From Crib To Toddler Bed... To Infinity and....

So, this weekend, Lil Man decided to climb out of his crib. NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I needed those rails. I needed that confinement. I needed just one...place...that I knew he was safe and away from harm. But alas, the time came that I heard a bump and found him in the kitchen. Sigh... so we changed out electrical plugs and fastened furniture to the wall. I was still going to 'wait and see' if it happened again. But when I saw his leg over the rail, and talked to other mothers, I knew that it had to be done. I couldn't risk him falling and getting injured.

The first night wasn't too terribly bad. There was only about 30 minutes of crying. But Monday, for the first nap without his crib (or pacifier). Yeah, I forgot to mention we took that away also. He only used it in the crib and in the car. And since he slept without it at nap on Sunday (in his crib), we decided to just do it and be done. Anywho, the first nap time rolled around.

Let me say, there wasn't enough chocolate in the world that day. It was not a fun pleasant afternoon for anyone involved. He 'got into' things that I thought he couldn't reach but could. Let's just say that vasoline was involved. He did however nap, but it was short.

I was ready for the 'fight' that night at bedtime. But after about 5 minutes of whimpering, he was asleep.

Tuesday rolled around. I was not looking forward to nap. But thankfully this day was smooth.

Yesterday, I expected things to be smooth since they were so great on Tuesday. That makes sense right? Well, I heard a 'rip, rip, rip' on the baby monitor. I went to check on things. He had dumped all of his clothes out of his dresser and was tearing the contact paper. Yup!

Today, well today, I emailed my husband threatening to remove every piece of furniture from Lil Man's room. Thankfully, after much instruction on my part, he climbed (and stayed) in bed.

He is enjoying his new found freedom. I have mixed emotions!

  2. Oh, it's fun when they're at that age! I remember walking into my kitchen after being outside. I thought my then two-year-old was asleep on the couch (she gave up her nap early, stubborn child) and I was taking advantage of that. Only to discover her wearing nothing but her underwear, and eating butter from the tub. It was everywhere!

She's six now and we have a lot less issues with butter smearing :-P

  3. LOL! This is wonderful!! I remember when my oldest first got out of his crib...at one point he got ahold of the powder, that was up on his dresser, and proceded to color his room white! LOL! I just have to say that powder is a huge pain in the fanny to clean up!

    1. Thankfully he's adjusted. It took about a week of not much fun for naps, but so far this week he's napped!

2 Weeks Post Mohs Surgery

May 26, 2021 3:40pm  Finally, the phone call that I'd been waiting on. It was the Medical Center. ( Finally, we can schedule my surgery. ) She tells me who she is, and then tells me that she has a cancellation for tomorrow. ( Me stammering... )  "Ok, but I was thinking the end of June."   Then I hear "We just had a moment to look at your file. We really don't think that you should wait. We really think you should come in tomorrow at 8:15am" ( Me stammering again ) "Ok, I'll be there."  Wait, what? My mind is all over the place. I'm supposed to work. How am I going to get our son to school? Will my husband be able to go with me on such short notice. I expected this to be the end of June, not tomorrow. I'm not prepared! I was overcome with emotion.  May 26, 2021 Surgery Day I woke up at 1am with a horrible headache. By the time we arrived at the surgery center, I was definitely a bundle of nerves. I got checked in, went through the usual ...

Ecosak Nylon Nut Bag Review

I have been compensated in the form of a gift card/money/coupon and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. All opinions expressed are mine and honest in nature. Well, can you believe that I am trying out a nut bag to make my own almond milk? (I'll pause a moment so that you can let the shock wear off!) I can honestly say that never in my life did I intend on making my own almond milk. But as you know, we are making some changes to our diet. So I decided I would give it a try.  And with the Ecosak I also received some recipes which really helped since I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do. I asked Lil Man if he wanted to help me, and he was more than thrilled. Apparently making almond milk was an exciting and fun thing for him. First things first was to wash the Ecosak (easy to do) and soak the nuts. Yep, I put some raw almonds in a bowl, covered them with water and let them soak 6-8 hours or so. After they had been soaked, I...

Window Bird Feeder By Yellow Beaks

Lil Man has been beside himself since the Clear Window Bird Feeder by Yellow Beaks arrived in the mail. He couldn't wait to get it up and outside. He's very anxious for the birds to come. I wasn't sure how the suction cups would hold up. I've never, in the past, had much luck with any type of suction cup. But so far it's been a week with varying temperature changes, and the suction cups are holding strong. The construction seems sturdy, and it looks to be well-made. It also will be easy to clean out. I know with bird feeders they can get a little yucky sometimes, but this will be easy to remove, spray out and clean up.  So far the birds haven't visited us yet. Our neighbor has several bird feeders and he is keeping all of the birds over there (ha). But Lil Man is checking daily, sometimes multiple times a day, for a bird. So I can't report how the birds like the feeder, but I have to say that we honestly do.  You can find the Wind...
