How I Make Money As A Freelancer

I keep getting a lot of questions about my freelance work that I do. So I thought, why not write a post about it, and get the information out there. As you know, I'm a stay-at-home mom, and we are a one-income family. So when I had Lil Man we cut back on expenses. But after awhile, I wanted to re-join the gym. So I used my money that I had saved from birthdays etc and re-joined the gym. But after a couple of months, that money of course was gone. So I started looking at trying to make some money from home so that I could pay for my gym membership. I looked at direct marketing. And don't get me wrong, they are an excellent way to make money. It just wasn't a good fit for me. So I was doing a google search one day, and came across an article with some websites listed as legitimate work from home sites. I signed up at Elance . It's not as easy as just 'signing up'. Once you sign up, you then have to fill in all of the important information. Filling in all of ...

Busy, Busy, Busy

Busy doesn't begin to describe it. A week or so ago, I lost my 'main' freelance job. It came out of no where. I just got up one day to work, opened my email, and boom that was it. She lost a client and she had to let me go. I was disappointed, but I totally understood. Sooooo.. I applied for several jobs hoping I could find one to fill that spot. Can you believe that I got 3 jobs in one week? Great right! But I wasn't expecting that to happen. And I really wasn't expecting to get an email from the lady (that I really like working for that had to let me go) saying that she needed 5 hours this week if I could do it. So in addition to the 3 new jobs, I still had 5 hours to work for her. So I went from being busy to insanely busy. Two of my jobs are writing jobs. I am so very slow (apparently) and it's taking more time than I anticipated. Factor in the fact that Lil Man is sick, it's really stressful right now. Hubby has been sick. Lil Man got a fever yester...

Freelancer

In addition to being a stay at home mom, I'm also now a freelancer. I'm working for various individuals on a couple of different freelance sites. Basically I've spent the majority of my time applying over and over for jobs that pay very little. But I have received a few jobs. Jobs that I am thankful for! I'm hoping that I can continue to get more jobs and build a good résumé and reputation on these sites. It's frustrating though to get rejected over and over. It isn't easy on one's ego. But I keep trying.
